Kautz, 89, of Main Street, Davidsville, died May 13, 1979 at home. Born Feb. 27, 1890 in Johnstown, the son of Jacob and Emma (Shaffer) Kautz. Preceded in death by parents; one sister, Mae; brother, Earl; son, Don; and wife, the former Rosa Cassler. Survived by daughter, Marjorie K., wife of Harold Corkran of Hollsopple RD 1; and four grandchildren: Michael W., Don K., Jeffrey L., and Sandra Smith; and eight great-grandchildren. He was a member of St. David's Lutheran Church, a retired conductor for the B&O Railroad and a member of the Somerset FOE, Lodge 131, F&AM of Cumberland, Md. and the Scottish Rite of Free Masony of Cumberland, Eastern Star, McKinley, Chapter Number 12, O.E.S. Cumberland. The family will be receiving friends from 7-9 Monday, and 2-4 and 7-9 Tuesday at the George E. Mason Home, Funeral Home, Davidsville, where services will be held Wednesday, May 16, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Luther Gotwald officiating. Interment, Kaufman Cemetery. At 7 p.m. Tuesday, the Somerset Lodge of Free Masons, 358 will hold their service. Daily American, May 14, 1979 [K0134]
