Born Dec. 6, 1916, in New York City. Son of Louis and Mary Kavar. Preceded in death by parents; wife, the former Genevieve Gontis, on Oct. 2, 1988. Survived by daughter: Georgean, wife of Louis Ciocca, Wexford, and grandchildren: David of Rochester, N.Y.; Douglas, married to Kara Lynch of Chicago, Ill.; and Jennifer of Carlisle. Brother of Mary Zurvansky, Williamsport; Louis and Alex, both of Johnstown. A member of All Saints Catholic Parish. Former member of Johnstown B.P.O.E. and American Legion. Retired May 1995 after 40 years as an agent for State Farm Insurance. Navy Veteran of World War II. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Hoffman Funeral Home, Main Street, Boswell, where wake service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Friday at St. John's Church, Acosta, the Rev. Father Blase Wegierski, O.F.M. Conv. officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park.
