   Shirley Mae Keafer, 73, Somerset, died Oct. 4, 2005, at Somerset Hospital. Born
  June 25, 1932, in Shade Township, a daughter of D. David and Iva (Cable)
  Shaffer. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Henry Robert Keafer, who died
  April 20, 1997; and brother, Richard Z. Shaffer. Survived by children, Mrs.
  Steve (Iva) Rea, Duluth, Ga.; Mrs. Gerald (Ann) Oortman, Marietta, Ga.; Mrs.
  Angelo (Julia Ann) Panousis, Duluth, Ga.; grandchildren, Alexandra Lindon,
  Nicholas Rea, Molly Rea, Corrie Oortman, Cameron Oortman and Gregory Panousis;
  brothers, Robert Shaffer and wife, Arlene, Hummelstown; Marlin Shaffer and
  wife, Barbara, Hooversville; sisters-in-law, Cora Beabes and husband, Guy,
  Somerset; and Mabel Morrell, Somerset. Member of Somerset Church of the
  Brethren. A 1950 graduate of Shade High School. A 1955 graduate of the
  University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing. Mrs. Keafer was a school nurse in
  the Somerset area schools for 40 years. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and
  rubber-stamping. Friends received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at
  Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home. A service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday at
  Somerset Church of the Brethren. The Rev. Mark Bendes officiating. Interment
  Berkey Cemetery, Windber. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the
  UPMC Hillman Cancer Center.
