His chest was crushed and he suffered a puncture of a lung and fractures of four ribs on the left side. Keeble was a student at Penn State College and was enroute back to the institution in company with a fellow student, Newell Lewis, also of Pittsburgh, who is said to have been driving the automobile. They had spent the Easter holidays at their homes in Pittsburgh. Lewis told authorities at the hospital that the door of the car opened suddenly and that Keeble tumbled out of it while the car was moving rapidly. Keeble's mother, who formerly was Miss Fannie Allen of Meyersdale, a sister of Mrs. W. G. Hocking, was at his bedside when he passed away. Mrs. Keeble, accompanied by a daughter, hurried to Johnstown when notified of the accident. The young man's father is dead. In addition to his mother, Donald Keeble is survived by three sisters.
