Keefer, 77, passed into the loving arms of God. He was born October 31, 1929 in Meyersdale. Mr. Keefer was preceded in death by his father, William Keefer; step-father, Bud Meyers; his mother, Martha Grace Baker; and brother, Bernie Keefer. He is survived by his wife, Joyce M. Keefer, Texarkana, TX; a son, Thomas Keefer, Texarkana; sister, Leoda Bonham, PA; two brothers, Bob Keefer and Tom Meyers, both of Ohio. He was a longtime resident of Texarkana. Mr. Keefer was a retired dispatcher for Texas Dept. of Public Safety and a highly commended and decorated veteran of the United States Army having retired on November 30, 1968. He served his great country for many years with assignments in Korea, Turkey Africa and Japan. Mr. Keefer was a loving husband, an exceptional father and devoted friend to many people in Texarkana from whom he could always elicit a smile. He will be missed by many who could count on his jokes, stories or witticism to brighten their day. He loved children and would give a lot of his time to bring smiles to their faces. Services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 10th at Texarkana Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Wilson officiating. Burial was in Chapelwood Memorial Gardens.
