Keefer, 56, wife of Frank E. Keefer, of Somerset, died at her home early Saturday morning, after an illness of several years. She was born in Greenville Township on June 30, 1889, a daughter of Isaiah and Elizabeth (Miller) Baer. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a granddaughter, Shirley Ann Wagner, and by three sisters and a brother: Mrs. Grace Cook and Mrs. James Weigle of Somerset, Mrs. Sadie Albright of Baltimore, and William G. Baer, of Salisbury, Route 1. Her only daughter, Mrs. Violet Wagner, died in March, 1935. Mr. and Mrs. Keefer were proprietors of a grocery store in Salisbury at the time of the big fire in 1924, when it was completely destroyed. Prior to that time they had lived at the Finley Limestone Quarry, which Mr. Keefer operated. Later, they purchased and remodeled Meadow Mountain Inn on the National Highway, and built up a prosperous business. They sold that business, with the intention of turning to less strenuous work, but later built the New Colonial Inn, also on the National Highway, and also sold the business there after it had proved successful. They moved to Somerset thereafter. Funeral services were conducted in the Greenville Lutheran Church at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19th, with Rev. I. Hess Wagner, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Somerset officiating. Interment in the church cemetery in charge of Charles R. Hauger, Somerset mortician. Meyersdale Republican, March 21, 1946
