Mr. Keefer was a veteran of the Civil War, having served in Company H 171st Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteers. He was born in Stonycreek Township and was a son of the late Peter Keefer. He removed to Somerset in 1900, residing since that time. Mr. Keefer was married twice. He is survived by his second wife, Jennie Moser, and by the following children to his first wife, who was Mary Kann: Ida, wife of J. S. Mosholder; Jennie, wife of J. J. Swauger, and Walter Keefer of Johnstown, and George H. Keefer, of Shanksville. Funeral services were conducted at the Keefer residence at 10 o'clock Saturday morning by the Rev. A. G. Collins, pastor of the United Evangelical Church. Interment at Shanksville at 1 o'clock in the afternoon in charge of the R. P. Cummins' Post, No. 210, G. A. R. and James H. Hinchman Camp No. 122, of Veterans. Meyersdale Commercial, June 15, 1916
