Petry got a very depressing surprise from Enid, Oklahoma. It was a telegram announcing the death of her sister, Mrs. Albert G. Keim, who died there suddenly last Saturday morning, while visiting relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Keim had been residents of Oklahoma for quite a long time, but within the last few years went to Dyersburg, Tenn., to live with their son-in-law and daughter, Dr. and Mrs. J. P. Baird. It was only a few weeks ago that Mrs. Petry received a letter from Mrs. Keim, informing her that she had reached the good age of 80 years on Sept. 11th, was in the best of health, had scarcely any gray hair, and could scarcely realize that she was more than four score years old. The telegram from Oklahoma announcing the death of Mrs. Keim in that state was a surprise to her only surviving sister in two respects. First, because of Mrs. Keim's recent letter telling of her good health, and second, because Mrs. Petry did not know that so soon after receiving her elder sister's letter that Mrs. Keim had gone to Oklahoma, and up to Tuesday afternoon, Mrs. Petry had not yet received a letter from any of Mrs. Keim's relatives or friends in Oklahoma, giving complete details of her death. When called on by The Republican's local reporter for particulars concerning Mrs. Keim's death, Mrs. Petry stated that her elder sister had evidently gone to Oklahoma to visit at the home of a daughter-in-law, whose husband lost his life about a year ago in an automobile wreck, and had likely been taken suddenly and fatally ill there. Mrs. Keim, whose maiden name was Mary Lichty, was the eldest daughter of the late Samuel J. and Catherine Miller Lichty. She was born in Elk Lick Township and grew to womanhood in Salisbury, where her parents resided for many years. She became the wife of Albert G. Keim, youngest son of the late Judge Jonas Keim, and Sarah Livengood Keim, in 1872. She and her husband resided in Salisbury for a few years following their marriage, then resided in Grantsville, Md., a short time, and also for a short time in Meyersdale, and soon thereafter emigrated to Nebraska, where they resided for a number of years, and still later to Missouri and Oklahoma. Mrs. Keim was a woman of much beauty and personal charm, and the possessor of a most kind, congenial and lovable disposition. She lacked nothing in the way of poise, character and every other good womanly quality, and she was much beloved and admired by all who knew her. Quite a number of Mrs. Keim's oldtime friends and acquaintances in Salisbury and vicinity are still living, and all who learn of her death will be greatly grieved. Mrs. Keim was the mother of seven children, five of whom preceded her to the spirit world. She is survived by her husband and two daughters, namely, Mrs. Sarah Catherine Baird, of Dyersburg, Tenn., and Mrs. Stella Warn, of Reynolds, Neb. She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. O. W. Petry, the youngest of the six children of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel J. Lichty, and now the only surviving member of that splendid family. The funeral of Mrs. Keim was held at Enid, Oklahoma, where she formerly resided, on Monday. Meyersdale Republican, November 5, 1931
