Keller, 83, Carlisle, died Sept. 28, 2008, in Manor-Care Health Services, Carlisle. Born Nov. 28, 1924, in Mostoller, a son of the late Jeremiah and Stella (Kimmel) Keller. Homer was married for 48 years to the late Ida (Perlik) Keller, who died July 17, 2000. He is survived by two daughters, Carol Linda Garman and her husband, Robert, Carlisle; and Leona "Chris" Gawron and her husband, Peter, Hershey; one sister, Lois K. Custer, Somerset; four grandchildren, Grace and Luke Gawron and Robert and Lorie Garman; and three great-grandsons. He was a 1943 graduate of Stony Creek Township High School and graduated from Tank Vehicle Mechanical School and Vale Technical Institute. Homer served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 750th Tank Battalion and was at the "Battle of the Bulge." He also served during the Korean Conflict and retired as a Staff Sergeant in 1972 from the Pa. National Guard after 22 years of service. In 1983, he retired from Sprint Telephone after 20 years of service as a repairman. He was a life member of the American Legion Post 101, VFW Post 477, both of Carlisle and the National Rifle Association. Homer was also a member of the Gobin Guard and the National Timberwolf 750th Tank Association. Viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, where funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday. Thomas H. Shively officiating. Burial with military honors by Cumberland County Honor Guard will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.
