Kelly, 63, of 3034 Latimer Ave., Ashtabula, Ohio, formerly of Rockwood and Somerset, died Sept. 13, 1986, as the result of an accident on the Conrail Lower Lake Dock. He was born in Rockwood, March 1, 1923, son of William and Mary (Sanner) Kelly, and has resided in Ashtabula for the past 22 years. He was a member of the International Longshoreman's Association No. 1913. He had been an employee of Conrail since 1971. Survived by his wife, the former Ruby J. Bowman, whom he married May 21, 1944; three sons: Barry E. Shaffer and Jeffrey C. Kelly, both of Ashtabula; and Douglas W. Kelly of Gaithersburg, Md., serving in the U.S. Navy; two daughters: Barbara L. Scott and Tracey S. Gentile, both of Astabula; three brothers: Conrad Kelly, Somerset; Jay R. Kelly, Hickory; Harold B. Kelly, Rockport, Ind.; a sister, Maud Estelle Long, Reitsville, N.C.; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandson. He graduated from Somerset High School in 1943. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Jack W. Ross Funeral Home, 526 Prospect Road, Ashtabula, Ohio. Calling hours 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
