Kemp, 65, of Garrett, died July 31, 1996, at his home. He was born June 15, 1931, in Meyersdale, a son of the late Matthew J. and Mabel (Secrest) Kemp. Also preceded in death by a brother, Joseph. Survived by these children: Melissa Huston, Meyersdale RD 4; Cindy Hostetler, Meyersdale; Joseph Kemp, Meyersdale RD 1; a stepson, Thomas Haer of Garrett; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also survived by two brothers and a sister: John of Altoona; James, Seattle, Wash., and Joyce Keife, Euclid, Ohio. He was a retired PennDOT employee. Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Charter member of Laurel Falls Association. Member of Garrett Volunteer Fire Department, Meyersdale VFW, and Brooklyn Hunting Club. Funeral arrangements, in the charge of Leckemby Funeral Home, Meyersdale, are incomplete. KEMP Christian Wake service for Jerry D. Kemp, of Garrett, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Leckemby Funeral Home, Meyersdale, with Deacon Fred Weaver officiating. Interment, SS. Philip and James Cemetery.
