Kendall, 93, Garrett RD 1, died Feb. 12, 1987, at Meyersdale Community Hospital. She was born Jan. 22, 1894, in Brothersvalley Township, a daughter of James and Ada (Coleman) Shober. She was preceded in death by parents, husband Harvey F., three sons, a grandson, three brothers and four sisters. Survived by sons James H., Vineland, N.J.; Samuel A., Columbus, Ohio; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. She was a sister of: Iva Jeffries, Avalon, N.J.; Etha Landefeld, Garrett RD 1; and Raymond Shober, Vineland, N.J. She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Berlin. She was a former teacher in Brothersvalley Schools, was a Sunday School teacher for many years, and a charter member of Valley Grange No. 878 where she at different times held all grange offices during her 78-year membership. Also a member of Berlin American Legion Auxiliary for over 50 years. Friends will be received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday (today) at the Johnson-Kuhlman Funeral Home where services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, the Rev. James Meyers officiating. Interment, Beachdale Cemetery. The Pomona Grange of Somerset County will conduct a memorial service Saturday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Daily American, February 14, 1987 [K0328]
