Born Oct. 26, 1927 in Wellersburg, he was a son of the late Albert A. "Jack" and Josephine R. (Kerr) Kennell. Kennell retired in 1984 with over 30 years of employment as a truck driver for the Interstate Motor Freight System. Prior to this, he was employed as a boilermaker at the Bolt and Forge Shops for the B&O Railroad in Cumberland, Md. He served in the US Navy aboard the destroyer USS Beatty as a Boilermaker 3rd Class during World War II. He attended the Barrelville Presbyterian Church. From 1946 to 1960, he was a catcher for the Barrelville and Wellersburg Pen Mar League baseball teams and the Wellersburg County League softball team. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Helen L. (Kasecamp) Kennell; one son, Randy and wife, Julie, of Wellersburg; two granddaughters, Jennifer and Jessica Kennell; two brothers, Ray, Hyndman RD1; and James, Wellersburg; three sisters: Dolly Bishop, Arlington, Va.; Alice L. Booth, Frostburg RD 4; Linda Kennell, Wellersburg; a stepmother, Edna E. Kennell, Wellersburg, and several nieces and nephews. Friends were received at Harvey Ziegler Funeral Home, Hyndman, on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Services were conducted at the Barrelville Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, the Rev.
