Kennell, 58, of Garrett, died May 17, 1972, in the VA Hospital in Altoona. Born Jan. 3, 1914, in Somerset County, he was a son of the late Harvey and Margaret (Christner) Kennell. Surviving are his wife, the former Louella Beatrice Weaver; a daughter, Shelley Jean, at home; a stepson, Thomas Eugene Stevanus, Washington, D.C.; two grandchildren; a brother, Frank Kennell, Philadelphia; and three sisters, Miss Edna Kennell and Mrs. Mary Mancena, both of Akron, Ohio; and Mrs. Orpha Peck, Meyersdale; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was a steel mill worker and a veteran of World War II, where he served in European, African and the Middle Eastern campaigns with the U.S. Army, Medical Corps. He was a member of Garrett United Methodist Church, Garrett Volunteer Fire Department and the VFW. Funeral service was held Saturday afternoon in Garrett United Methodist Church with Rev. Paul E. Snyder officiating. Interment in Highland Cemetery, Garrett. Meyersdale Republican, May 25, 1972 [K0372]
