Aunt Ruth, as she was known to her nieces and a nephew, was born in 1915 to Morgan S. Horner and Melvina Davis. She was a great-aunt, great-great-aunt and a great-great-great-aunt. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thurman "Jerry" Kephart in 1949. She was the youngest and last survivor of seven siblings. She worked at JC Penney's in Somerset from 1949 until her retirement. Her great-nephew, Jim Rankin, has known her since his birth in 1949. He has never seen her display anger. Although she was not known to be comfortable in a group setting, Jim enjoyed her company because of her sense of humor and pleasant nature. She had been a frequent patient to hospitals in the last five years. The staff would comment about her pleasant and courteous interaction with them. She appreciated the cards and/or calls she received from a fellow employee, Somerset friends and relatives. Viewing will be held from noon to 2:30 p.m. Friday at Paul L. Henney Memorial Chapel in Bethel Park. A service will be held immediately afterward. She will be buried next to her husband at the Somerset County Memorial Park the following week.
