Kern, 85, of Fairhope died Jan. 6, 2004, at his home. Born July 17, 1918, in Allegheny Township he was the son of Fred and Mollie (Woida) Kern. Preceded in death by his parents, wife Kathryn J., brother Gust Kern, and grandson Mark Myers. Survived by his children, Karen married to John Myers, Hinckley, Ohio; Gus married to the former Linda Streich, Fairhope; grandchildren, Beth married to Mark Ross, Chippewa Lake, Ohio; Todd and his wife Sarah, Columbia Station, Ohio; Marci Myers, Hinckley, Ohio; Renee Kern, at home; three great-grandchildren; bother of Susan O'Neil, Meyersdale; August Kern, Fairhope; Ottilie, married to Herbert Tag, Transfer; and Hilda married to Charles Mowry, Berlin. Member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Glen Savage, and a member of the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin and from 10 a.m. Saturday until time of service at 11 a.m. at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Glen Savage.
