  John Kertis Jr., 68, of 407 Jerome Ave, Jerome, died April 19, 1977
  at Memorial Hospital, Johnstown.  Born June 21, 1908 in Jerome, son
  of John and Julia (Haluchuck) Kertis Sr.  Preceded in death by
  parents and a brother, George.  Survived by widow, the former Anna
  Phillips; a son, John J., married to the former Carol Wojtaszek of
  Jerome: and two granddaughters, Heidi and Anita.  Brother of Michael
  and Mrs. Mary Merrero, both of New York; and the Rev. Andrew of
  McKees Rocks.  Member of SS. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic
  Church, Jerome; past president of the Jerome Volunteer Fire Co.;
  formerly operated Merchant's Hotel, Boswell and the Jennerstown
  Inn.  Friends received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 2 to 4 and
  7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Joseph H. Hoffman Funeral Home, 227
  Allegheny St. Boswell, where prayer service will be held at 8:15 a.m.
  Friday followed by Funeral Mass at 9 a.m. at SS. Peter and Paul
  Catholic Church, Jerome, the Rev. Thomas Gran officiating. 
  Interment, church cemetery.
