Kester, 46, of Gettysburg, died Jan. 11, 2003 at his residence. Born in Beret, Ohio, son of the late Clair E. and Dorothy A. (Carter) Kester. Survived by his wife, Cheryl J. (McCoy) Kester to whom he was married to for 21 years in May. Member of Mount Joy United Methodist Church in Clearfield. He was a 1974 graduate of Clearfield High School. He was employed for the last three years by United Tote in Glen Rock in the shipping and receiving department. Previously, he was employed as a delivery man by Mid-States Distributing in Chambersburg and by Riverside Markets where he was employed for ten years in the Clearfield and Somerset stores. A model car enthusiast, he was a member, secretary and past president of Central Pennsylvania Model Car Club where he was recognized as a Modeler of the Year for 2002. He was also a member of Maryland Automobile Modelers Association and Keystone Modelers. He enjoyed building, showing and collecting model automobiles. He won many awards for his models and was featured in the magazine, Scale Auto. Friends received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Hanover Church of the Brethren, 601 Wilson Ave., Hanover, and from 1 to 2 p.m., the time of service Thursday at the Mount Joy United Methodist Church, RD 2, Clearfield. Rev. Gerald E. Deffenbaugh officiating. Interment in Centre Cemetery, Hyde. Frank S. Miller Funeral Home Inc., 130 North Mark St., Elizabethtown, in charge of arrangements.
