Khuri, 47, went to his home in heaven on Dec. 28, 2006 while at Shadyside Hospital. Born July 2, 1959 in Johnstown. Son of John Hanna and Christine (Moses) Khuri. Preceded in death by father; sisters, Muna Romah, and Amber Harris. Survived by mother, Loving wife of 25 years, Lisa (Helsel) children, Zachary, Harrisburg; Casey, Max and Nick, all at home; sisters, Najet Khuri Field and Christianne Erkel, both of Pittsburgh; Deborah Harris, Johnstown; brother, Michael married to Rae, Virginia Beach; father and mother-in-law, William and Patricia Helsel; brothers and sisters-in-law, Alex Romah, Loren Harris, Kathy and James Carr, William and Denise Helsel, Sheila and Randy Held, Steven and Coleen Helsel, Wade and Dawn Helsel, Gregg and Erin Helsel, a host of nieces and nephews. John's proudest accomplishments were raising his four wonderful children together with his loving wife, Lisa, and developing and maintaining the wonderful friendships he was blessed to share over the years. The youngest of seven children, John enjoyed loving relationships with his five older sisters and his older brother. His sisters provided unparalleled support to John during his recent health challenges. He enjoyed a fulfilling 23 year career in banking, where he developed lasting relationships with many area business men and women who enjoyed and respected his business sensibilities and remarkable wit. John worked for the past eight years for Somerset Trust Co. STC and all the wonderful people who work there supported John through his health challenges these past few years like a loving, caring family. John and his family will be eternally grateful for his fortune to be part of this exceptional company. John was a board member for the Westmont Recreation Commission and Greater Johnstown YMCA. He was co-founder, dedicated coorganizer and a reliable ̉big manÓ participant for the annual summer Barnball Invitational Classic. A longtime coach for youth basketball, John taught many young players the basics of the game. He was a youth baseball coach and manager in the GJYL. John was an avid racquetball enthusiast and fierce competitor in both indoor and outdoor games. He was a proud member of the Roxbury Sunday Racquetball League and helped secure the outdoor racquetball walls at Roxbury Park. John played in many men's basketball leagues for over 20 years in the Greater Johnstown Area. John loved his annual relaxing and memory- making Outer Banks vacations with family and friends. A self-taught and skillful home-remodeler, John worked diligently on every part of his home for the past 18 years, both inside and out; creating a wonderful, welcoming place to live. John enjoyed mastering new recipe challenges, and prepared delicious sushi for all the sushi lovers around him. John touched many lives over the years and was enriched in return by those who touched him. He will be missed more than can be said by his family and friends. Friends received from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday and Monday at Frank Duca Funeral Home. A funeral service at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Emmanuel Baptist Church. The Rev. David Streets officiating.
