Kifer, 67, of RD 1, Flintstone, Md.; died unexpectedly Dec. 6, 1980 while hunting near his home. He was born in Bedford County, and was a son of the late Silas C. and Lottie May (McCoy) Kifer. He was a retired employee of the Celanese Corporation of America where he was employed in the spinning department and was a member of the Prosperity Christian Church. He is survived by his widow, Ruth E. (Borror) Kifer; four sons, Donald Kifer of LaVale, Md.; Leo Kifer, and Randy Kifer, both at home; and Kelly Kifer of Johnstown; one daughter, Mrs. Hazel Phillips of Lynchburg, Va.; three brothers, Harry Kifer of Flintstone, Md.; Gernie Kifer of Orwell, Ohio, and Robert Kifer of Bowling Green, Md.; four sisters, Ora Holler of Everett; Dorothy Borror of Berlin; Mrs. Grace Poorbaugh of LaVale, and Mrs. Kathleen Nesselrodt of Flintstone; and nine grandchildren. Friends were received at the Silcox-Merritt Funeral Residence, where services were conducted in Prosperity Christian Church with the Rev. Glenn Jones officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Richard Roland, Ronnie Kifer, Carl Kifer Jr., Philip Mallow, Gary Hartsock and Eddie Hendrickson. The Republic, December 11, 1980 [K0473]
