Kimmel, of Stonycreek Township, died at 6 o'clock Wednesday morning, Feb. 18, in the Somerset County Hospital, of cancer. He was 72 years of age. Mr. Kimmel had sought relief from his disease at the West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh, but returned home and entered the County Institution were he passed away. Of late years he made his home with Austin Ringler, and engaged in farming. As a young man he belonged to a corps of engineers on the South Penn Railroad that was partly graded through Somerset County when work on it was stopped in 1885 and never resumed. Later he worked as an engineer in North Carolina. He is survived by two brothers, Simon, of Stonycreek Township and Z. T. Kimmel, of Berlin, and one sister, Mrs. Jane Ringler, of Stonycreek Township. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the home of Z. T. Kimmel. Rev. D. S. Stephan conducted the services. Johnson & Son were the funeral directors in charge.
