Kimmel, 80, Woodbury, N.J., died April 3, 2008, at Underwood-Memorial Hospital, Woodbury. Born in Rockwood, the son of Irvin L. Kimmel and Evanelle (Minord) Kimmel Nicklow. Survived by a brother, Irvin L. Kimmel Jr., Woodbury; stepbrother, Dale Nicklow, Markleton; nieces, Brenda Harding, Williamstown and Deborah Bickner, Colby, Kan.; nephew, William D. Kimmel, Lawrenceville, Ga.; and many other friends and relatives. Dean was an avid golfer and will be sadly missed by special friends, Martin and Ruth Ann Siemon. He lived in Woodbury since 1949 and served as the chief of police from 1961 to 1987. He was a senior chief petty officer in the U.S. Navy with 42 years service, nine years active duty and 33 years active reserve. Veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. Life member of VFW Post 2174 of Westville Grove and American Legion Post 133 of Woodbury, International Association of Chiefs of Police, FBI National Academy Association (past president), New Jersey State Chief of Police Association, South Jersey Police Chiefs Association and Southeastern Pennsylvania Police Chiefs Association. Founder and president for seven years of the Gloucester County Police Chiefs Association. Member of the PBA Local 122. Visitation from 9 to 10 a.m., the time of service Monday, at the Davis & Wagner Funeral and Cremation Services, 171 Delaware St., Woodbury, N.J. Robert Ralph, pastor, officiating.
