Born Jan. 22, 1935, in Somerset Township, the son of Harry Edward and Elsie Irene (Maust) Kimmel. Preceded in death by parents; wife, the former Alice May Hemminger, who died March 10, 2006; brothers, Ray and William Kimmel; sisters, Ethel Mae Bell and Pauline Bell. Survived by children, Eric Kimmel, married to the former Barbara Fisher, Clawson, Mich.; Mrs. Walter (Kathy) May, Mill Run; grandchildren, Alison, Hannah and Kyle Kimmel, Clawson, Mich.; Kerri and Dustin May, Mill Run. Brother and sisters, Dorothy Fries, Mercersburg; Betty Nair, Rockville, Md.; Robert Kimmel, Hermitage; and Jean Ann Whipkey, Clinton. A 1953 graduate of Somerset Area High School and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving with the 82nd Airborne. Formerly worked for GM&W Mining Co., Boswell and Sipesville Water Co. Currently worked as a farmer for Hill Haven Farm. Also a member of Christ Casebeer Lutheran Church. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset and for one hour prior to the service, which will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday at Christ Casebeer Lutheran Church.
