Kimmel, aged 82, a prominent farmer of Downey, for more than 50 years, died Sunday morning at 6 o'clock at his home following a long illness. He was born in Stonycreek Township, September, 1850. He conducted a farm near Downey for more than 50 years, retired about 15 years ago, and had since been residing in Downey. He was a surveyor for many years and also was one of the founders of the Downey Progressive Brethren Church, which was merged with the Berlin Progressive Brethren Church several years ago. Mr. Kimmel served as an officer of the congregation for many years. Surviving are his wife, a son, A. P. Kimmel, of Downey, and a brother, Edward B. Kimmel, of Berlin R. D. He also leaves eight grandchildren and four great- grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in charge of Rev. M. Z. Leatherman, pastor of the Berlin Brethren Church, followed by interment in the Downey Cemetery, in charge of C. H. Ross, Shanksville mortician. Meyersdale Republican, December 22, 1932
