Kimmel, 87, of Tyrone, died Dec. 6, 1984, at the Center Community Hospital, State College. Born March 7, 1897, in Milford Twp., Somerset County. Son of William J. and Frances (Will) Kimmel. Married May 1916 to Madge N. Putnam, who died February 1975. Survived by two sons, Max W. of Tyrone and the Rev. Myers P. of Petersburg, W.Va. Also seven grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Member of the Church of Brethren and held various offices in the church being a lifetime deacon. Past board member of the I.D.A. Towers, Sylvan Acres, Washington Ave. Terrace Developments. Member of the Chapter 917 of the AARP and of the Junior Order of the United American Mechanics Council 372 of Altoona. Retired in 1967 as a Nationwide Insurance Agent and founded the Kimmel Insurance Agency in Tyrone in 1942. Funeral service will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Brethren in Tyrone with the Revs. Ralph C. Ebersole, Myers P. Kimmel and Philip J. Cochrane. Interment, Bald Eagle Cemetery.
