Born Jan. 21, 1927, in Lincoln Township, the son of Harry Edward and Elsie Irene (Maust) Kimmel. Preceded in death by parents and sister Ethel Mae Bell. Survived by wife, the former Mae Jean Boyer, which ends a marriage of 55 years; children, Cynthia Harward and husband Lynn, Pfafftown, N.C.; Sharon Ashcraft and husband Dr. Harold, Johnstown; Cheryl Schrock and husband Craig, Somerset; Peter Schwaller, Kentucky; exchange daughters Tuija, Finland; Hanna, Sweden; and Tona, Norway; and faithful companion Teddy; grandchildren, Kevin and Amy Harward; Cara and Lauren Ashcraft; Jessica, Drew and Sarah Schrock; and Luke and Matthew Schwaller. Brother of Pauline Bell, Missouri; Dorothy Fries, Mercersburg; Betty Nair, Rockville, Md.; Robert Kimmel, Hermitage; William Kimmel, Green Castle; Harry Kimmel, Sipesville; and Jean Ann Whipkey, Clinton. Member of Geiger Church of the Brethren, U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a 1945 graduate of Somerset High School. He had worked as a diesel mechanic for Beckwith Machinery for 35 years until his retirement in 1991. As well as owned and operated Vacation Trailer Sales, Somerset County's first RV dealership. Also a member of Sugarbush Antique Car Club and Indian Bear Club. He was a faithful husband, loving father, patient grandfather and true friend who shared his love, time and talents with all those around him. Friends received from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Friday at the Geiger Church of the Brethren where a service will be conducted at 4 p.m. The Rev. Gerald E. Deffenbaugh and the Rev. Mark Bendes officiating. Interment Husband Cemetery. Please omit flowers.
