KING Laid to Rest in National Shrine Charles F. King's Last Wish, to Be Buried in Arlington, Realized In compliance with a last request found scribbled on a small sheet of white paper, the body of Charles F. King, of Middlecreek Township, who expired last Thursday afternoon at the Somerset Community Hospital, of pneumonia, was buried in Arlington National Cemetery, Wednesday morning. The body was prepared for burial by Mills & Mickey, Rockwood undertakers, and was shipped to Washington from their mortuary Tuesday night. Arriving in Washington, the casket was received by a detail of Regular Army soldiers and taken across the Potomac River to historic Arlington in which thousands of the Nation's dead have found sepulture. It was a strictly military funeral. When Capt. Ernest O. Kooser learned that Mr. King had expressed a desire to be buried in Arlington, he immediately sought permission through the War Department of the Arlington Cemetery Commission by telegraph. Later Capt. Kooser and Attorney Joseph Levy got in telephone communication with the War Department, and completed arrangements for the funeral. Charles F. King was a member of Company I, Fifth Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteers, and served under Capt. Kooser in the Spanish-American War, rising to the rank of Sergeant. He was a member of Somerset Post Veterans of Foreign Wars. Sergeant King was 64 years old and unmarried. He is survived by one brother, Jefferson King, of Middlecreek Township. Sergeant King was widely known as one of Somerset County's most officient school teachers. He was teacher of the Philson School, Northampton Township, the last two years.
