King, 80, passed away Dec. 8, 1996, at the Pend Oreille Pines Nursing Home in Newport, Wash. Survivors include his son, Carl King of Newport, and a daughter, Dorothy Gardner of Somerset; 15 grandchildren, including Aaron and Alan King of Spokane; 18 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Ruby Johnson of Meyersdale, Pa. Jim was born Sept. 7, 1916, in Sand Patch, to Mordecai and Canzada (Wolverton) King. Preceded in death by his wife, Daisy Belle (Bittinger), in 1964; three sons: Eugene and Bruce as infants and Frank in May of 1992. Was a salesman in Pennsylvania for most of his working career. The family suggests that memorials be made to the Pend Oreille Pines Nursing Home in memory of James King. Arrangements are under the direction of Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport.
