King, 87, of King Road, Rockwood passed away Jan. 14, 2001 at Somerset Hospital. Born September 18, 1913 in Middlecreek Township. Son of John and Mary (Meyers) King. Preceded in death by parents, stepmother Florence (Henry) King, son William King Jr., great-grandson Chris Shultz, brother Ashton King, and sister Elsie Enos. Survived by wife Leora (Faidley) King to whom he was married for 64 years, son John (married to Pam Ansell) King of Rockwood, daughter-in-law Effie King of Rockwood, and these grandchildren: Jerry (married to Julie Fisher), Jeff (married to Donna Fleegle), Jenny King, Joni (married to Roger) Shultz, Jane (married to Dan) Campbell, John (married to Barb Singo) King, and Mark King. Also great-grandchildren Nicole Shultz, Levi, Skylar, and Alexis King, and Jessica King. Brother of Amanda married to Kenneth Pletcher of Indian Head, Martha Jane married to Edward Dwire and Earl King, both of Somerset. He was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Scullton where he served as church treasurer for 23 years, the Somerset County Fair Board for 48 years, the Somerset County Sheep and Wool Grower's Association for 23 years, the Pa. Farm Bureau Association and the Farmers Bureau (Agway) committee. He was a past township supervisor for Upper Turkeyfoot Township and was a past school director for the Rockwood School District. He was a past senior of the year in Kingwood Grange. Friends were received Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home, Somerset where a service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Revs. John Hollis and Thomas Zimmerman officiating.
