Klink Instantly Killed In a Saw Mill His Body Cut in Two While Removing Slabs From Revolving Saw GRANTSVILLE, Nov. 15 - Robert Beryle Klink, 20, of the Finzel road, Garrett County, was killed instantly on Tuesday morning, when his body was severed in two by a saw at a sawmill where he was working, about a half-mile from his home. Dr. R. I. Baumgartner, deputy medical examiner for the county, issued a verdict of accidental death. Trooper Blair J. Buckel investigated. Buckel said Klink was removing sawed slabs, and either slipped and fell on the saw, or was pulled on to the saw when the slab caught on the blade. His body was severed diagonally from the left side of his waist through the right shoulder. George Richter, father of Carl Richter, Grantsville, the owner, was operating the mill but Buckel said the elder Richter was away from the saw rolling logs to it when the accident occurred. Lester Platter, Grantsville, another employee, was on the slab pile about fifty feet from the saw when Klink met his death. No one saw the accident. The men, however, discovered Klink's body almost immediately and notified Buckel. Klink had been at work only about a month and had been working on his grandfather's farm. Surviving the youth are his parents, Leonard and Ruth Klink, Finzel road; a brother, Carl Klink, serving in France with the army. Funeral services at the Johnson Methodist Church on Friday at 2:30 p.m., with Rev. Raymond Crowe officiating. Interment in the church cemetery. Meyersdale Republican, November 16, 1944
