Klose, 74, of Berlin, died April 30, 2000 at Memorial Medical Center. Born July 24, 1925 in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Lester A. and Mary C. (Grier) Klose. Survived by his wife of 39 years, the former Marion Landis, stepsons Ben M. and Stanley L. Scheller, both of Berlin, four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A graduate of Dormont High School, the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Pittsburgh Medical School. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. Had a medical practice in Berlin from 1954 to 1988. Served as medical director at the Somerset County Home for many years. A past director of First National Bank, National Bank of Western Pa. and First Philson Bank, all of Berlin. Attended Berlin Brethren Church. A 32nd degree member of Meyersdale Lodge 554 F. and A.M., member of Hebron Royal Arch, Chapter 272 and Syria Shrine. Member of American Geriatric Society, Somerset Medical Society, Berlin V.F.W., and the Berlin Whiskey Rebellion celebration. A member of the Pitt Golden Panthers and a strong supporter of the University of Pittsburgh and ardent Panther fan. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin, where service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Rev. Owen H. Preston officiating. Interment, Berlin I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Instead of flowers, contributions may be given to Berlin Brethren Church, Berlin, Pa. 15530. A Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
