Knecht, 63, Rock Hill, S.C., formerly of Salisbury, died Oct. 10, 1997, at Piedmont Hospital Center, Rock Hill. Born Aug. 9, 1934, in Meyersdale, son of Margaret (Gleaves) Knecht of La Plata, Md., and the late J. Francis Knecht. Preceded in death by first wife, Laura Anne (Reich) Knecht. Survived by widow, Joan (Brock) Knecht; 4 children: Joseph C., Jeffrey and Susan Saboley, all of Rock Hill, and Elizabeth Anne Parks, Wayneville, N.C., and 6 grandchildren. Brother of Michael Knecht of La Plata, and Barbara Segert and Mary Barkofsky, both of Harrisburg. Member of St. Anne's Catholic Church, Rock Hill. A 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Air Force veteran of Korean Conflict. Retired professional truck driver for Celanese Corp. Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. Monday, and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Leckemby Funeral Home. The funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in SS. Philip and James Catholic Church with Msgr. Timothy Swope. Interment, SS. Philip and James Cemetery.
