"Mike" Knecht, 77, died October 1, 1982, at Akron City Hospital, Ohio after a long illness. He was born in W. Salisbury, July 20, 1906 to Olive R. Speicher and George Franklin Knecht, and has lived in Akron since 1929. He was employed with the Plumbers & Steam Fitters Local No. 219, supervising heating and air conditioning installation for several mechanical construction companies, and had retired in 1970. He was a member of the W. Edwin Palmer Masonic Lodge No. 718 F. and A. M.; the Yussef Khan Grotto, and was formerly active in area aviation with his own pilot's license. He is survived by wife, Anna M.; son, John J. (Jack), Richfield, Ohio; daughters, Mrs. Paul A. (Betty) Weakland, San Jose, California; Mrs. Herbert (Peg) Davis, Tucker, Georgia; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Also survived by brother Paul R., Tampa, Florida; sisters, Mrs. James (Rose) Rothwell, and Mrs. Pressley (Delores) Arnold, both of Akron, Ohio; Mrs. Joseph (Edith) Willingham, Munroe Falls, and Mrs. Ray (Joan) Golden, Mogadore, Ohio. Graveside services and burial were held Sunday 2 p.m. from the Grantsville Cemetery, Grantsville, Md. with the Rev. David Fetter officiating. Hopkins Funeral Home, 547 Canton Rd., Akron, was in charge of arrangements. The family suggests memorials to the charity of one's choice. The Republic, October 7, 1982 [K0824]
