Knepp Shot Wife and Himself Instantly Dead Tragedy Occurred in Their Home in Greene County, Pa. A double tragedy involving a former Somerset County couple occurred Sunday at Braden, near Waynesburg, Greene County, Pa., when William Knepp, a 40-year-old miner shot his wife and then himself at their home. According to Coroner Raymond Adamson, Knepp shot his wife, Margaret, 38, in the arm and heart, when she came home early in the morning. A son and daughter, awakened by the shots, ran for help, and when they returned they found their father lying across the bed with a bullet through his right temple, Adamson said. The late William Knepp and his wife, the former Margaret Holle, resided in Larimer Twp., near Meyersdale, until they moved to Waynesburg several years ago to work. William Knepp was a son of Lewis Knepp and his wife was a daughter of George Holle, both of Larimer Twp. The remains of the husband and wife were brought to the Konhaus Funeral Home here. Brief funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Lewis Knepp home, followed by additional rites at 2:30 p.m. at the White Oak Evangelical and Reformed Church. Rev. J. E. Gindlesperger, pastor, officiated at the double service. Interment was in the church cemetery. The deceased couple leave two children, Geraldine, 11, and Lewis, 16; and Mr. Knepp leaves his father, three sisters and four brothers, while Mrs. Knepp leaves her father and eight brothers.
