Knepper, 95, of Pennknoll Village, formerly of Bedford, died Jan. 24, 2000 at the home. She was born Dec. 30, 1904 in Somerset County, daughter of the late Wesley William and Luna (Kimmel) Younkin. She was raised by her Aunt and Uncle Frank and Minnie Barkman. On May 24, 1924, she married Clarence J. Knepper and he preceded her in death on March 6, 1964. She was preceded in death by her daughter Arlene Arnold, three brothers, Lloyd, Kenneth and Ray Younkin, sister Payola Younkin and a half brother Harold Butler and a half sister Hazel Butler. She is survived by three grandchildren, three great-granddaughters and a great-great-granddaughter. Also a half-brother Ralph Butler, Ohio, and her son-in-law Carl Arnold of Bedford. Mrs. Knepper was a member of the Bedford Church of the Brethren. She attended the State Normal School in Somerset. She taught school for a few years in a one-room school house in Humbert. She was well-known for the many afghans she crocheted. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Bedford Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Claude Hall officiating. Burial in the Brotherton Cemetery in Brotherton. Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford and one-half hour prior to the service at the Brethren Church on Monday morning.
