Knieriem Sr., 67, of Wilmington, Del., died Jan. 19, 1997, in Newark, Del. Born May 26, 1929, in Johnstown, Pa. Son of the late Homer F. and Nellie J. Knieriem. Survived by his wife, Florence B.; five sons: Donald, Homer Jr., and Robert Knieriem, all of Wilmington, Del.; Michael Phillips of Newark, Del., and Douglas Phillips of Elkton; Md.; two daughters, Deborah Cuomo of Bear, Del.; and Beth Phillips Brown of Media, Pa.; 12 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Also a sister, Lois Thorngate of Wilmington, Del. Owned and operated Homer's Arco in Wilmington for 9 1/2 years, retiring in 1982. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 26, in Wilmington Church of the Brethren. Visitation will be held from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Friday at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Rd., Wilmington. Burial will be private.
