"Knoppy" Knopsnyder, 53, of Rockwood passed on July 26, 2002 at home. Born Jan. 14, 1949 in Somerset, son of Cleo Phillippi of Somerset. Preceded in death by maternal grandparents Blaine and Grace Knopsnyder. Survived by wife Peggy (Nicholas), daughter Johnna Nicholas, both of Rockwood; sister Carol Raygor of Somerset; mother and father-in-law John and Carrie Nicholas, both of Rockwood; sisters-in-law Valerie, Karen and Rhonda Nicholas, and brother-in-law Bill Nicholas; also nephews Jonathan, William "B. J." Jr., and Zachary Nicholas, and T.J. McKenzie, and niece Melissa Hetz. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army who served in Vietnam and was awarded a Purple Heart for wounds received in battle. He was an avid bowler and a member of the Rockwood Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. Friends will be received from 2 to 9 p.m. Monday at Miller Funeral Home, Somerset where a service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Rev. Patrick Walsh officiating. Interment Rockwood IOOF Cemetery.
