"Gene" Konieczny, 67, of Jennerstown, died unexpectedly Jan. 6, 2002, at his home. Born May 23, 1934, in Jerome, son of John W. and Helen (Rachocki) Konieczny. Preceded in death by parents and sister Helen Bieniasz. Survived by wife, the former Jane D. "Jeanne" Pishko, and daughter Barbara Ann, married to Kenneth W. Odgers, of Columbia, Md. Brother of Jen, married to Donald Pitchford, of Summerfield, Fla.; Kathleen "Tootie" Granistosky, John and Robert, married to the former Betty Antol, all of Jerome. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and "granddog" Rudy, whom he always looked forward to seeing. Member of All Saints Catholic Parish. President of the parish council. U.S. Marine Corps veteran. Auto salesman for 35 years with Mardis Motors and B.J. Maurer Motor Co. Avid woodworker whose handiwork can be seen throughout western Pa. and beyond. A 1952 graduate of Conemaugh Township Area High School, having served on the reunion committee. Would have observed 43rd wedding anniversary on Aug. 22, 2002. Gene loved to travel to Florida for Pittsburgh Pirates spring training and to visit friends and relatives. Throughout his extensive travels, he always managed to find someone he knew. He was a very devoted and loving husband and father who was always willing to help anyone in any way. He is greatly loved and appreciated and will be sadly missed by all. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Hoffman Funeral Home, Main Street, Boswell, where vigil for the deceased will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral Mass 10 a.m. Thursday at All Saints Church in Boswell. The Rev. Father Martin Breski O.F.M. Conv., celebrant. Committal at Saint Stanislaus Cemetery in Boswell.
