Koontz, 74, of Somerset RD 6, died Dec. 18, 1981, at Somerset Community Hospital. Born May 5, 1907, in Somerset, son of the late Chris and Lena (McVicker) Koontz. Preceded in death by two brothers, Melvin and Harvey, and infant sister, Gladys. Survived by wife, the former Hazel Stull; two daughters: Mrs. Charles (Dolores) Weigle, Lynchburg, Va.; Mrs. Barry (Dorothy) Rhoades, Boswell RD 2; five grandchildren. Brother of: William Koontz of Pittsburgh; Lloyd Koontz and Mrs. Marie Green, both of Sarasota, Fla.; Mrs. Leora Burkett, Somerset RD 8. Bricklayer and stone mason by occupation. Member of Union Local No. 75, Greensburg. Charter member of Sweet Sixties of the Grace Brethren Church and charter member of Keenagers of Christian Missionary Alliance Church, and charter member of Somerset Area Senior Citizens. Attended Christian and Missionary Alliance Church of Somerset. Friends will be received after 1 p.m. Saturday at the Wilbur D. Miller Funeral Home, where funeral service will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m., the Rev. James Vandervort and the Rev. Clifford Wickes officiating. Interment, St. John's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, friends are requested to make contributions to Laurel Highlands Christian Academy, Somerset County Chapter of the Child Evangelism or Christian Missionary Alliance Missions.
