All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/somerset/ ________________________________________________ REBEKAH KOOSER Miss Rebekah Kooser, aged 81, died at 12:15 Wednesday afternoon at her home on West Patriot Street, Somerset, after an illness which had kept her bedfast for over two months. She had been in ill health for several years, but was able to continue her daily duties until late in 1939. She was one of the pioneer women clerical workers in Somerset County and did stenographic work in Somerset, Topeka, Kansas, and Omaha, Nebraska, for many years prior to her retirement about 20 years ago. Only one brother, Edmund K. Kooser, of Castle-on-Hudson, N.Y. survives. She was one of a family of 13 children. All but Edmund preceded her to the grave. Other brothers and sisters who preceded her in death were: J. Parke Kooser, Mrs. Elizabeth K. Wolf, Miss Jessie Kooser, Miss Emma B. Kooser, Curtis Kooser, Mrs. A. E. Truxal, James Kooser, Herman B. Kooser and Judge Francis J. Kooser. She is survived by the following nieces and nephews: Attorney E. O. Kooser, Miss Eleanor P. Kooser, Attorney W. Curtis Truxal and Miss Rebekah Truxal, all of Somerset; Mrs. Mary F. K. Sargent of Westport, Connecticut; Dr. Cyrus W. Truxal of Philadelphia; Mrs. Leslie E. Bratton of Denver, Colorado; Mrs. Robert Newcomer of Berkley Springs, West Virginia, Mrs. John C. Ritchie of Bellevue, Mrs. Arthur Green, Park Kooser and Miss Juliet Kooser of St. Louis, Missouri. Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock in the Charles R. Hauger Funeral Home by the Rev. Dr. I. Hess Wagner, pastor of the Trinity Lutheran Church. Interment will follow in the family plot in the Union Cemetery at Somerset. Meyersdale Republican, February 15, 1940
