Park Kooser the well known retired Somerset Merchant died Monday aged 68 years. Meyersdale Commercial, May 18, 1916 --- As noted in our last issue, W. Park Kooser, a member of one of the oldest families in Somerset County, died May 15 at his home in Somerset following two major operations with the past several weeks. Mr. Kooser would have been 68 years old had he lived until the 24th of the present month. He was a son of Curtis and Emeline Kiernan Kooser who lived in Somerset in the 18th century, before Somerset was incorporated. Mr. Kooser was for a number of years the manager of the Jenner store. And for quite a period of years, he was manager of the Mineral Point Railroad. Mineral Point has since been given the name of Rockwood. He managed a store in Pittsburg and for a time was a partner in the store of W. B. Frease, of Somerset. Two years ago, Mr. Kooser retired retaining his office of Treasure of the Quemahoning Coal Co. Mr. Kooser was never married. He was a brother of the following: Ex-Judge F. J. Kooser, Herman B., General manager of the American Refrigerator Company of St. Louis; Curtis O., Sec. of the County Trust Co. Somerset; E. K. of the Hahn Meat Company of Johnstown, and the following sisters: Mrs. John W. Wolfe of Somerset; Mrs. A. E. wife of Rev. Dr. Truxal of Meyersdale and Misses Rebecca and Jessie at home.
