Korns, 91, of Sipesville, died Oct. 19, 1980, at her residence. She was born Nov. 12, 1888, in Somerset County, a daughter of the late Harvey J. and Ella (Dignan) Miller. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Dr. Charles Byron Korns, who died Jan. 10, 1971; one son, Dr. Charles Byron Korns Jr., who died Jan. 26, 1944 in Nassau, the Bahamas, while serving with the U.S. Air Force as a doctor. Survived by one son, Dr. Miller J. Korns, Somerset; three grandchildren, Mrs. Judith Bednarz, Johnstown; Charles Byron Korea III, Gaithersburg, Md.; and Mrs. Jacalyn Mason, Davidsville; three great-grandchildren: Nicole and Roxanne Bednarz, and Christopher Mason. She was a member of Christ Casebeer Lutheran Church, taught the Ladies Volunteer Bible Class 42 years, past president and councilor of Somerset County Medical Auxiliary. She was a former member of Lincoln Township school board, a member and past matron of Trinity Chapter O.E.S. No. 138 for 59 years, former regent of D.A.R., former teacher in Jenner Township schools, and a graduate of Gammond School of Music. Friends will be received after 7:30 p.m. Monday in Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services Wednesday 1:30 p.m in Christ Casebeer Lutheran Church where body will lie in state one hour prior to service, the Rev. Robert R. Clark officiating. Interment, Beam Church Cemetery. Eastern Star Memorial Service will be conducted 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
