KORNS Wellersburg Miner Killed by Rock Fall John H. Korns, 36, Has Neck Broken When Struck by Rock in W. K. Kennell Mine John H. Korns, 36 years old, living near Wellersburg and employed in the W. K. Kennell mine near Wellersburg, was instantly killed Monday morning, December 29, when a rock fell on him from the roof of the mine. His neck was broken and he was dead when other miners reached him about five minutes after the accident. The body was removed to the Stein Chapel in Cumberland, Md., and prepared for burial. Mr. Korns is survived by his wife, Katharine, and two children, Junior and Mary Elizabeth; also by his mother, Mrs. Mary Korns, and three brothers, Earl and Allen of Ellerslie, Md., and Nevin, of Juniata, Pa. Funeral services were held at 10 o'clock last Thursday morning at the late home of the deceased, conducted by Rev. Landis, pastor of the Wellersburg Reformed Church. Interment was made in the Cook Cemetery. Meyersdale Republican, January 8, 1931
