Kowalczyk, 87, Susquehanna Street, Boswell, died Dec. 27, 2005, at home. Born Oct. 1, 1918, in Ralphton, son of John and Stephanie (Scislowicz) Kowalczyk . Preceded in death by parents; sisters, Mary Gennuso, Josephine Saponsky and Ann Jarosick; brothers, Walter, Stanley, Matthew and Chester; and twin brother, Michael. Survived by wife, the former Pauline C. Kaber; daughters, Stephanie and Kathleen, both at home; Paula, married to Florian Tomkowski, Johnstown; and Donna, at home; grandchildren, Stephen, Allison, Maria and Kevin Tomkowski; and numerous other relatives. A 1938 graduate of the former Boswell High School. Observed 56th wedding anniversary on Sept. 17, 2005. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific Theater of Operation. Retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1983, with 41 years of service in the Boswell area. Member of All Saints Catholic Parish, Our Lady of the Laurel Highlands Council 8908 Knights of Columbus, Father David J. Dodson Assembly 2201 Knights of Columbus and the Boswell Historical Society. Past church usher and Eucharistic minister. Fifty-year member of Boswell Post 461 American Legion. Former chairman of the Jenner Area Sewer Authority. A 2004 inductee into the Somerset County Oldtimers Baseball Hall of Fame. Past secretery/treasurer of the Somerset County Oldtimers Baseball Association. Viewing from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Main Street, Boswell, where vigil for the deceased will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday. K of C Assembly 2201 Colorguard will stand duty from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Thursday by K of C Council 8908. Funeral Mass 10 a.m. Friday at All Saints Church, Boswell. The Rev. Father Justin A. Ratajczak, OFM, Conv., celebrant. Committal, St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Boswell, with military graveside rites accorded by Somerset County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials to John's church would be appreciated.
