Kreger, 81, of Somerset, died Dec. 27, 1999, in James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center, Altoona. Born Aug. 21, 1918, in Ralphton, he is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Kreger. A graduate of Somerset High School class of 1938 and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Somerset. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on April 13, 1939, and was discharged as a sergeant in Company D, 110th Infantry on Sept. 28, 1948. While in service, he served in Normandy, Northern France and the Rhineland. He received three Battle Stars and the Purple Heart. He was formerly employed by Oscar Miller Electric Company and the former Frank Kimmel Electric Company. He was a member of VFW Post 554, Somerset. Friends will be received from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday in Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home where services will be held at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Clarence Moore officiating.
