Jr. 02/12/07 Daily American Joseph W. Kudasik Jr., 85, Central City, died Feb. 10, 2007. Born Nov. 21, 1921, the son of Joseph W. and Anna (McKolosky) Kudasik. Preceded in death by parents, brother, Edward and sister, Anna Tomazewski. Survived by wife of 61 years, the former Helen Borysiewicz and these children: Ronald, married to the former Jean Stiffler, Chambersburg, Karen, Hillsboro, Ore., Kevin, married to the former Penny Skone, and David, married to the former Donna Razwadowski, both of Central City. Also survived by grandchildren, Jill, Ryan, Keenan and Brandon. A U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II serving with the 91st Bombardment Group (H) 401 Squadron. A tail gunner on a B-17. His plane was shot down over Frankfort, Germany, spending the next 15 months as a prisoner of war until being liberated by Patton's third Army. A retired postmaster and a member of the National Association of Postmasters, a life member of the DAV, the military order of the purple heart, American ex-POWs, Central City VFW and American Legion Posts and a charter member of the Knights of Columbus 9109. Joe was an avid sports fan, lending support to the Steelers, Pirates, Penguins and University of Pittsburgh. Friends will be received after 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Mulcahy Funeral Home, where wake service will be prayed Tuesday evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Central City, with Rev. Father Joseph Maurizio, celebrant. Committal at Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery. Graveside military rites by American Legion Post 449. Friends may make contributions to Regional Hospice at Windber in Joe's memory.
