Kurtz Has Passed Away At Ripe Old Age Confluence, Oct. 28, - Harvey W. Kurtz, one of Somerset County's oldest active merchants, and founder of the H. Kurtz Jr., & Sons' department store in Confluence, died October 24, at the age of 82 years. He was the son of Henry and Albina (Winters) Kurtz of Carlisle and Confluence. Mr. Kurtz was twice married. His first wife was Ella Morrison, daughter of Samuel and Mary Morrison of Bidwell, Pa. She died Nov. 16, 1913. On November 9, 1915, he was married to Zetta Show, daughter of the late Jedi and Mary (Reiber) Show of near Confluence, who died July 1, 1946. He is survived by two sons, Robert C. and Lawrence Kurtz. A daughter, Blanche E. Kurtz, married to Harry H. Brown, Confluence, died May 4, 1920. He is survived by six grandchildren, Donald Brown, Robert H. and Jean Kurtz, children of Robert Kurtz; Mary Barbara, Blanche and Martha Jane, daughters of Lawrence Kurtz; also by one great grandchild and by one sister, Mrs. Rose (Kurtz) Beals of Mt. Lebanon, Pa. Funeral services were held in Humbert Funeral Home, Monday, Rev. Jerome V. Guss officiating. Interment in the Baptist Cemetery. Meyersdale Republican, October 30, 1947
