  KURTZ
  
  John E. Kurtz, 78, of Shiremanstown, formerly of Gray, died April 7,
  1994, in Renova Nursing Home, Mechanicsburg.  Born Sept. 20, 1915,
  Passaic, N.J., son of the late Stephan and Stella (Holowicz) Kurtz. 
  Preceded in death by one brother, Charles.  Survived by his wife,
  Virginia Berkey; one brother, Michael, and two nephews: Roger and
  Meig, all of Bethel Park.  Member of St. John's Lutheran Church,
  Shiremantown.  Retired from Pa. Department of Justice.  Member of
  Mechanicsburg Lodge 756, F&AM, and Harrisburg Consistory.  Friends
  will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Robert H.
  Halverson Funeral Home, where service will be held at 2:30 p.m.
  Saturday, with Pastor Michael L. Sigfried officiating.  Interment,
  Beam's Cemetery.
