MAMIE KURTZ

  A brave fight ended when Mrs. Mamie Kurtz succumbed in the Community Hospital 
in Somerset of pneumonia following an operation.  Mrs. Kurtz had been a patient 
in the hospital for many weeks and helped the physicians in every way in the 
fight for her life, and never gave up hope until almost the last.  She died 
Friday, Oct. 18th, 1940.  She was brought to the home of her father, Francis 
Gerhard.  Funeral services were in the Confluence Methodist Church on Sunday 
afternoon, Rev. J. O. Martin, her pastor, officiating.  Her Sunday school class 
attended the services in a body.  Her husband, mother, one brother and two 
sisters preceded her in death.  Her surviving two sisters and brothers and their 
families attended the funeral.
  Interment was in the Baptist Cemetery across the street from her late home.
  Mrs. Kurtz had a host of friends and was popular and well liked wherever she 
was known.
