Loy, Esq. Mr. Loy had been ailing for a few days previous, but it was not suspected that he was so near his end. He was about 50 years old, was a native of Bedford County, Pa., and was an old resident of this county. He came here in about the year 1850, and engaged in the practice of law at Depere, and afterward removed to this city. In 1855-56 he represented this district in the State Legislature. In 1861 he received a Captain's commission, organized a company of soldiers, which was incorporated into the Fourth Wisconsin Regiment as Company K., and served in the war against the rebellion. In 1863 he resigned at Baton Rouge, and returned home, where he has since practiced his profession. He was a shrewd lawyer and has had a good practice. His impulses were warm and generous and his faults were tempered by many virtues. He was a brother of the late David M. Loy, of Depere. He leaves a wife and three children to mourn his loss. His funeral, on Sunday, was very largely attended by the members of the bar, his former companions in arms, and citizens generally. Green Bay (Wisconsin) Advocate. Resolutions of respect and condolence were passed by the Brown County bar, and the surviving members of Captain Loy's Company. Captain Loy resided in Somerset for several years. He read law in the office of the late Joshua F. Cox, and was admitted to the bar. He married Miss Adeline Patton, of this town, and some twenty-four years ago made Brown County, Wisconsin, his home. Our older citizens all remember him as a man of ability, a genial, whole-souled gentleman.
